  • I am the 1st Vice-President of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC). It's the umbrella organization of the fraternities and sororities.
  • I ran for local office - City Commission;
  • countywide - School Board and Clerk of the Court;
  • and statewide - Governor in 2010 & 2014.
  • I know the 3P's: the Problems; the People they affect most & the Possible solutions.

  • I became an American citizen when I arrived here in 1958 at the age of eleven.
  • I've lived in ten cities in five states: New York, Pennsylvania, Cal., Vermont and Florida.
  • That's the East, West, North and South.
  • My family lived in Miami since the mid-70's. Wow, that's forty years!
  • Key West and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida - 1993 to present
  • Like many Florida residents, I also moved here.
  • I'm in two categories - those from other parts of America
  • And, Floribbeans; which are people from the Caribbean who live in Florida.

Major Life Events

  • I've been to ALL 67 Florida counties.
  • I've visited 46 states.
  • I drove across the country twice.
  • I took a two-month train trip around it.
  • None of my opponents can match these.
  • I know America and Americans better than ALL of them.
  • I'm known as "Trinidad Joe' but I'm really "American Joe'.
  • I taught many subjects in all three levels of public school in New York, Pa. and Cal.
  • A nearly-fatal car accident in '93 forced me to retire from teaching after almost 25 yrs.
  • I moved to Key West, Florida where it's much safer.
  • I've traveled from the Tip - Key West, to the Top - Tallahassee, and out to both corners - Jacksonville and Pensacola.
  • I'm the divorced father of two with one grandson.
  • I'm ready to get married again.
